We got an inch or two of snow overnight. I let the dogs out the back door in the morning to do their business. Rin is an Alaskan Malamute. She doesn’t like snow.
First attempt at 830am - Rin stayed on the porch, then came back in.
Second attempt at 1000am - Rin stayed on the porch, then came back in. This time she went and hid in the bedroom.
Third attempt at 1130am - So this time I knew I h
ad to go out with her and
push her
off the porch and into the yard. She had to go pee regardless of her opinon
.
I prevented her from turning around and coming back in a few times.

I have a short haired 35lb boxer something mix and she loooves the snow. Even at 12 years old she does this weird hopping prance run if the snow is over 6 inches deep.
She will also run and gobble snow. Snow dogs are adorable! She did live with my sister in northern Massachusetts and Maine for the first 8 years which might explain some of her exuberance. Once get gets decently deep I’ll often make her a figure 8 track so she can run the following days.

She is the sweetest and easiest Malamute I’ve had.
Downside is I’ve never had one
that
required
this much effort to get her to step onto snowy
grass.

Rin says to your dog “You’re nuts!”. And Rin is a
tall
85 lbs so six inches of snow
is about halfway up to her elbows and knees.
What a cute jacket and pit area! Rin doesn’t need a jacket, she likes the cold so she apparently is indeed a northern breed.

More of a warm-weather snow dog? Those looks she kept giving you... “don’t make me do this”
Any progress on your stealth van?

Punch up the video headline to “Alaskan Dog Hates Snow” and you’ll start trending. My dog will stand out there shivering and won’t come in which is why in the picture with the track you can see I cover her in Ikea fleece blankets.

What’s this about a stealth van? For living in?

Maybe she wants a coat and some booties... Even though she's literally wearing a winter coat.

That’s a good idea. I always set my youtube videos to “unlisted” because I’m not interested in immature comments from the hoi polloi. OTOH, I’m still susceptible to validation from internet strangers. hmm...
Rin has a furry bower she loves to hang in. A plywood box filled with her fur.

She actually likes the cold. Her coat is thin so I worry when it’s 15 deg out. But she wants to be outside.
She hates water.
My guess is she realizes
snow makes her paws wet.

She actually likes cold. Not a fan of warm weather at all. She does have a soulful expression.
Stealth van - ahh! You caught me. I’m going to have to use you to push me to work on it. Apparently I’m not a cold weather fan - unheated workshop.
I stopped by Joanne’s Fabrics for the first time. I was thrilled by the fabrics - microsuede, leatherette, lots of stuff that would be cool as a finish.

Initial plan is for sleeping in during visits back to the Midwest. Now I’m thinking maybe for camping. I have no idea other than definitely not living in.
Maxxfan is the only exterior evidence it’s a camper. I only have it insulated with a bed platform in it.

I’m trying to live vicariously through you! Don’t make me go buy an E xpress van! Ugh. I want to build one so bad.
Fabric huh... Sounds like it's time.... To get working!

As soon as my chicken bowl is done cooking I’ll be enjoying every page of that build. Thank you!
I’ve thought about the transits too. Way m ore space and better fuel economy , at the cost of a bit of reliability, and pricier repairs...

That’s a cool
looking van on that page.
“at the cost of a bit of reliability” - oh, you mean compared to an E-Series. Probably so
. A lot more modern systems to fail. But
Transits appear to be more reliable
than a Pro-Master and probably Sprinter and Nissan. From what I read on the Transit forum.
Yeah, pricier repairs compared to the E-Series. You could stick with the non-EcoBoost. Forum says the power is fine.
I know you rarely stand up in a van but when you do, it’s priceless. You could always go with a pop-top or shell on top of an E-Series.
I just found the modern vans drive so much better than the old ones - it was no decision for me. Maybe it doesn’t matter if you’re a young guy.
